About Me - Ken Rutherford

I have been involved with Thesen Islands since marketing and sales first began. From late 1998 to mid-2007, I managed the sales of the residential and commercial stands, including the Dry Mill.

I originally launched this blog to share copies of the "Islander News" - a sporadic pre-email newsletter - which kept our much valued, very first buyers informed on the progress of the redevelopment. These buyers had signed when there was nothing to see so we needed to keep them informed about what was happening. From when the first spade was turned in 2000 to when property transfers began in 2001 and beyond. Today, those early photographs and updates serve as a unique historical record of the island’s redevelopment.

Now, as a long-time resident myself, I have evolved this blog into an independent platform. It is a space for honest views, history, and opinions on Thesen Islands and Knysna—both my own and those of fellow homeowners, buyers, and anyone invested in our community.
